Sienna Miller is as famous for her on-off relationship with Jude Law as she is for her acting. The couple met when they both appeared in the re-make of 1966 film "Alfie." Lisa Kelly was born to sing, there was never any doubt she would do anything else. An "Irish Coleen" born in Dublin her whole family are musical.

They have three children, sons Cian and Jack and a daughter Ellie, born in March 5th 2008. She calls them "Hands down, the most important part of my life." When they are not at school they accompany her on tour and when she is in America her eldest son Cian makes her watch NASCAR as the family all adore cars. His favourite driver is Dale Earnhardt.
She finds the best part about touring is meeting her fans and she says life on the tour bus is very quiet as the crew spend time doing crosswords and watching movies. She uses the opportunity to catch up on her favourite reading, thrillers. With three children and a tight schedule she does not have as much time as she would like to read.

Great Moments In Opera, "Via, Resti Servita, Madama Brillante" From Mozart's "Figaro"

The aria "Via, Resti Servita, Madama Brillante" is basically two good women in love with the same man yet one older (Marcellina) and one younger (Susana); arguing over which one of them should go through the door first. Both trying to convince the other with what could be labeled as polite insults which could also be taken as compliments that it is their place to yield the right of way to the other.
Susana (the younger of the two and Figaro's fiancé) saying things like "madame of honor", "the love of Spain", "your habit" and "your age". It being this last comment which really seems to annoy Marcellina, (the older of the two) the lady of nobility; who responds in kind or perhaps in unkind by saying "the new wife, the belle of the count, your merits and your place. This as all the while they both repeat that they know their place in society and what is required of them. As they exchange offers for the other to go first by claiming "non primo le toca, (you first) non toca lei (no it should be you to go first).
As for the music during this witty exchange between these two ladies, who latter on would be friends though have clearly not arrived at that point; it is typical of Mozart's style in this opera. It being light and airy in a way that seems to be floating and constantly moving back and forth as if going from right to left and back again. This while Susana and Marcellina sing in perfect harmony with Marcellina starting the line to be continued by Susana as they create a lovely melody. It in a way being strange how Susana and Marcellina manage to sing in such a fashion that shows complete co-operation with each other. This in spite of the fact that they are trying to tear each other down with elegant verbal abuse.
In conclusion, I would say that it is a shame that "Via, Resti Servita, Madama Brillante" is often ignored when the best arias from Figaro are mentioned. I, being of the opinion that it really captures the brilliance of Mozart along with the wit and humor in this; one of the most popular operas ever written. I for my part, would also say that though many mezzo-sopranos have sung the role of Susana; it is Alison Hagley's interpretation which is definitely among the best I have ever heard. Alison Hagley's voice not only capturing the role of Susana to perfection but it even seeming that her joyful personality and looks had been created by nature to play the part of the scheming maid. This being how Mozart, himself describes the character of Susana or at least; the way he does in the film "Amadeus".

My All Time Favourite 10cc Songs

I first came across 10cc around 1973, not long after they'd had their first UK number one with the song Rubber Bullets. I thought they were American, judging by the lead vocalist's falsetto on that memorable hit, but soon discovered they were from Manchester in the north of England. I was re-acquainted with them when they were the subject of an ITV Schools Programme in 1974, when the recording session for the song The Dean And I was filmed.
A couple of years and albums later, I was a paid up fan and terribly saddened to hear of their split in 1976, soon after the release of How Dare You. Although they continued with two original members, Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart, that intangible 10cc chemistry seemed to have evaporated once Kevin Godley and Lol Crème had committed themselves long-term to other ventures, including directing pop videos.
It is from these first four albums, boasting the classic 10cc line up, that I've selected my all time favourite 10cc songs.
*Silly Love - from the album Sheet Music, released in 1974, the single climbing to No. 24 in the UK. I remember hearing this song on BBC Radio 1, on one of the first mornings I had to leave to get a bus to my new secondary school. From then on, hearing the record's opening bars takes me right back to sitting on that bus, heading into the unknown. I often wondered if the lyric had been inspired by the BBC TV comedy Monty Python's Flying Circus?
*I'm Not In Love - from the album The Original Soundtrack, released in 1975. A multi-layered production with a gorgeous melody and an interesting spoken word section in the middle, delivered by the Strawberry Studios receptionist, it became a worldwide hit and a pop standard.
*Life Is A Minestrone - from side 2 of the album The Original Soundtrack, the song's title was allegedly part of some throwaway banter from a radio talk show. The band's lyrical sense of humour was much in evidence, in lines such as 'I'm leaning on the tower of Pisa; had an eyeful of the tower in France...'
*I'm Mandy Fly Me - from the 1976 album How Dare You. Another beautiful melody that turned into an unsuspecting journey. Almost prog rock in its approach, its inventiveness just about stays within the pop song format. A tour de force, reaching number 6 in the UK singles chart in April 1976.
