If the voice sounds to thin, then you move the singer up a bit to use the proximity effect. Be careful, moving only an inch or so will increase the bass and fullness allot. If the sound is too big, then move the singer back a bit. Its a balancing act.
If your using an omnidirectional mic or an omnidirectional pattern setting, there will be no proximity effect. so moving the singer back and forth will only create distance and the bass frequencies will not be enhanced as the singer moves toward the mic.
The omni pattern is is a good mic to use if the singer cannto stay still and/or is inexperienced in vocal recording. but this mic has its fall backs, since it picks up all directions equally. you need a very quiet room to use this mic.
The effects of a condenser mic on axis and off axis with the singers mouth are very important. When a condenser mic is on axis to the singers mouth, the sound is harsher and brighter. When the mic is off axis to the singers mouth, the sound gets a bit warmer and darker. This is due to the sound hitting the mic capsule.The mic capsule captures the singers chest resonance and by changing the axis of the capsule, you change the sound that mic records. An off axis tilt towards the ceiling can help prevent popping and sibilance.

But Firth is just as romantic in his private life. In 1995, just after the series was shown on television, he met Italian film producer Livia Giuggioli on a film set, and it was love at first sight.

He also has a son William "Will" Joseph Firth from an earlier relationship with Meg Tilly, his co-star in "Valmont" who was born in 1990. He still keeps in touch with him and Tilly's other children as he was their stepfather.
Firth was born in Grayshott, Hampshire and he spent part of his childhood in Nigeria where his father was teaching. He also lived in St Louis, Missouri when he was 11-years-old. He later attended the Montgomery of Alamein School, a state comprehensive in Winchester (now King's School) and then Barton Peveril School in Eastleigh.
While he was at King's School he wanted to play the guitar but the school banned the guitar and saxophone as they were not serious instruments and he was told to play the baritone euphonium instead.
His acting training took place at the Drama Centre in London and in 1983 Firth starred as Guy Bennett in the award-winning production of "Another Country". In 1984 he made his film debut in the screen adaptation of the play, taking the role of Tommy Judd opposite Rupert Everett as Bennett.
In 1986 he starred with Sir Laurence Olivier in "Lost Empires" a television adaptation of J.B. Priestley's novel. The following year he appeared alongside Kenneth Branagh in the film version of J.L. Carr's "A Month in the Country".
He became a heartthrob nationally and internationally after "Pride and Prejudice" as the serial was a major international success. This role led to him being offered the role of Bridget's love interest in the two Bridget Jones films.
At the 66th Venice International Film Festival he was awarded the Volpi Cup for the Best Actor for his role in Tom Ford's "A Single Man" as a college professor grappling with solitude after his long-time partner died. He was also nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for this role which won him a BAFTA Award for the Best Actor in a leading role in February 2010.
At the Toronto Film Festival "The King's Speech" received a standing ovation and on January 16th 2011 he won a Golden Globe for his performance as King George VI in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.
The Screen Actor's Guild recognised Firth with the Award for the Best Male Actor for "The King's Speech" on 30th January 2011 and he received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 13th January 2010.
In February 2011 he won the Best Actor Award at the BAFTA Awards and he won his Oscar on 27th February 2011.
Firth will appear in the 2012 adaptation of John Le Carre's "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" directed by Tomas Alfredson also starring Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy.

Every now and then, we are surrounded by adverts calling for people to audition for various shows. Have you ever taken your time to analyze these auditioning organizations? If you do, you'll find that some of these auditions being conducted by the panel are of poor quality. This is the main reason why some aspiring musicians or actors pass an audition, but then the public never hear from that person again because he/she isn't fit enough to compete with those who are already in the field. 1. Lack of biasness. Favouring one's contestant over the other because he/she possesses characteristics which you admire; it is a shame that even the largest audition centres in Los Angeles do this, and what makes it worse is that all this is most often aired live on TV. We hear judges openly admitting that they prefer one contestant over the other because of the way that person talks or the conducts he/she possesses. This shows a lot of unprofessional behaviour on the panel's part as the focus now shifts from whose most deserving, to who's the most pleasing to us minus the talent.
2. Lack of rudeness. Some auditioning panels in the city are formed of people who treat competitors as if they are robots without feelings. As long as you are a human being you are prone to do a couple of mistakes here and there. That doesn't mean that you are stupid or unfit for the job; but rather, it says it just wasn't your day and you should try another day or at some other place. Sadly, some of the judges don't seem to understand this and they go out lashing derogatory words; for example, one may be told to just go home for he/she is of no help at all, or to try the second option because the first one is clearly not meant for that person. Such words may make a person never show up for any auditions for the rest of their life.
3. Competency. It is common nowadays to find a panel where one or two of the judges don't have sufficient skills to assess the competitors. It seems that these judges are chosen not by merit but by who they know in the industry. It is very unlikely for a person who has never sung before a huge audience to teach an aspiring musician to do the same and be successful. This is because he doesn't have the experience to back up what he/she is teaching.
4. Sustainability and applicability of your talent in the real world. Once a competitor emerges the best in auditions, the person is usually given a lump sum of money or any other incentive to congratulate him/her; a contract with a concerned company can also be offered to the winner, but is this the best way to appreciate talent? It is common nowadays that once the contract is signed, the now musician dishes out one or two songs that are poorly received by the public, and then the person disappears from the scene or try their luck in another field. The main reason behind this kind of behavior is that the contestants aren't allowed to be hundred percent original, but rather, are taught how to adopt and use other people's ideas. Trouble now comes when the company you are signed to requires you to produce your own song.
