The necklace is a simple and elegant design, adding colour to your spring time wardrobe.
The materials we have used in this project include 4 different colours of 6mm Swarovski Crystals, Onion Metalised Plastic beads, Jump Rings, Small Barrel Clasp, Eye Pins, Head Pins and Gold Cable Chain.
The first step to creating this stunning piece is to thread a 6mm Swarovski Crystal onto a head pin and using Chain Nose pliers, bend the pin 90 degrees away from you just above the bead. Use Side Cutters to cut the excess pin off and then using Round Nose pliers, create a full circular movement until it creates a closed loop. Repeat this process for all Swarovski Crystals.
Thread a Metalised Plastic bead onto an eye pin and create a loop as described above. Repeat this process for all Metalised Plastic beads.
The next step involves gently opening a jump ring and sliding on 4 Swarovski crystals (one of each of your chosen colours) and 2 lengths of chain. Close the jump ring and repeat this with 5 jump rings. Link together a length of chain and Metalised Plastic bead by gently opening the loop near the bead. Slide on the last loop from the piece of chain and close. Assemble the necklace by linking the beads and chain.
To finish off the necklace, join it together by opening a 5mm jump ring and sliding it onto the free loop of Metalised plastic bead #1 and one loop of the Barrel Clasp. Close the jump ring. Open the remaining jump ring and attach the other Barrel Clasp loop and Metalised Plastic bead #6. Close the Jump Ring and you're done!
This project takes about 30 minutes to make and the only tools required are a pair of Round Nose Pliers, Chain Nose Pliers and Side Cutters. Use Silver Chain to create a different effect! Enjoy wearing this stylish design.

• Bill Justis, "Raunchy": "Raunchy was the first rock and roll instrumental hit and reached #2 on the American charts in 1957. It was recorded by Sam Phillips in his Memphis Recording Service studios and released on his Phillips record label. The record sold over a million copies and set the stage for future rock instrumental hits. The sax sound on this recording is nasty. Nasty but beautiful!
• Link Wray and his Wraymen, "Rumble": Link Wray is one of the icons of 50s instrumental rock and roll and "Rumble" is as evil as it gets. This is actually a very simplistic song and the guitar work is not all that complex, but it has tons of attitude and no one could dare complain! • Joe Maphis and Larry Collins, "Hurricane": Larry Collins was the impish little-brother half of the Collins kids. Larry and Lorrie were literally just children when they started making hit records. While most of their songs featured Lorrie's vocals, it was often little Larry--a guitar wizard at the ripe old age of 10--who stole the show with his jumping-bean stage antics and blazing guitar work. Country star Joe Maphis--also an amazing guitarist--served as Larry's mentor and they often performed together with their signature double-necked guitars. Sometimes they both played one neck of the same guitar. "Hurricane" is about as wild as it gets and squeezes more notes into less than three minutes than just about any other song I can think of. These guys prove that "shredding" didn't start with Eddie Van Halen!
• Arthur Smith, "Guitar Boogie": For those who insist that rockabilly music started in 1954 with Elvis, I submit this gem from Arthur Smith. Recorded in 1948, this is pretty darned close to rockabilly if you ask me! This is a wonderful guitar-based song with the lead work done on an acoustic guitar instead of the twangy electric guitar featured in most rockabilly songs. If it isn't rockabilly, then it's certainly rockabilly's roots!

Rockabilly instrumentation and virtuosity often didn't get its rightful due, maybe because the music evoked such a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving vibe that people forgot to notice just how good those players really were. Hip-hop was once regarded as an all-male-arena, like the many other male dominated industries. Today, however, women have arrived. From MC Lyte who was launched by Def Jam in the early 80s to the Beyonce and J-Los and Mystic of today, our women are singing, and they are singing to the heart's content! Look at rapper Paccy for instance. She debuted in 2009 and is one of the young ones on the blocks - Paccy wants to make a difference and she raps about "equality in society."
On the other hand, the audience has matured as well. The subjects that can be 'tolerated' and not deemed as gross or ugly are beginning to diminish. Even women can discuss and rap about money, glamor and physical intimacy as our society is opening up to it. It is all a part of life and after all, rapping is about life as well.
Some time back in 2010, we had 14 year-old Brian Bradley a.k.a. rapper Astronomical Kid rapping, "Stop Looking at My Moms." He had candidly said that he expected other teenagers to relate to the song because having people stare at you mother is definitely offensive. The sad part is that it happens - it happens to all women. Most rap song videos have women presented as mere objects; with a man in the center and poorly clad women, in dozens, surrounding him. Such representation degrades; bringing down the self-depreciating, self-negating, underprivileged black woman even further. Even statistics show that many Black-American women believe that they have nothing more than sex to offer to a man. Rap lyrics, more often, reinstall these concepts destroying the self-worth as well.What good are we doing to our women and children if this is all we rap about? Perhaps such content can be enjoyed for a while, but there is a need for a healthy mix and a healthy culture.
The kind of "Real Music" which is evolving from ladies doesn't have explicit content that young listeners need to be protected from and nor is it too naive for the adult rap-fan. However, although the fan is growing to understand and accept the woman rapper, the real battle for her lies within the industry. The industry is still male dominated, still has men rapping about women in disparaging ways and it still has people who don't want to share the space. There are people who will make her look bad and there are also followers who will believe that. Above this, lie the societal norms and beliefs about the singers; with the many criminal cases and records registered against stars, there is a general notion that every hip hop world-star artist is a criminal. The woman has to break all these barriers, look ahead and make good music.
